Royal Canadian Mint comes up with another unique idea. Now the TPG's have to come up with a holder. I think they should have stopped after their square coins! http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/pure...014199&spReportId=ODIxMDE0MTk5S0#.V4fMjcvSbbQ
It's just a really weird shape (of a maple leaf). I still consider territorial coins as coins and some of those are not round.
And if the time ever came that someone had to actually spend these to survive, can you imagine how difficult that would be? Hopefully we will never have to find out. I can imagine the situation like McDonalds had with a customer being arrested for trying to pass Ike dollars.
Hey, if folks is willin' to take the 'granny bait' (Canadian friends term) more power to 'em. I won't bite..............maybe.........possibly........tempting.........grandson might make a million......... Nah.......pass for sure.
There's quite a few "non-round" coins out there (Aruba comes to mind) which are regular means of payment. And depending on how you count equilaterally curved polygons such as the heptagonal 20p and 50p coins in the UK, there are even more. Now this leaf is certainly not a circulation coin. Christian
I remember seeing Somali coins in the shapes of electric guitars. Oy vey. I really don't like gimmicks like this when it comes to coins. Just coins with solid designs. Preferably round.
