1982 cent split rim

    I'm not sure what the proper term is for the split rim unless that is just what it is. It appears to have 2 separate rims that join into one. What is the cause of this? image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Thanks. I see it a lot, but just wasn't sure what it was. I know it's common. I didn't know what to refer it as to look it up.

    Maybe common but still cool. I keep any I find, which isn't more than a couple.

    But only worth what someone will pay.

    Yeah, I know it's not really worth anything other than face value pretty much. I just see them a lot and wondered what caused it and what the proper name was for it.
