I was searching through some coins and I think I found a Doubled Die, can anyone confirm this as Variety Vista DDO-12? (http://www.varietyvista.com/12 Kennedy Halves/DDO Detail Pages/1964DDDO012.htm) Thanks!
Hi, I do not collect these, but it looks to me more like a die deterioration effect of spread. Over 150,000,000 of the "D" were minted, The internet does give this about the coin as far as DD. https://robpaulsenlive.com/how-much-is-a-1964-kennedy-half-dollar-worth/ Jim
Doesn't look the same, actually yours is slightly more doubled but not any more desirable in my opinion. One reason is the condition and just the overall less collectability. Cool if it's your first, however.
The die hopped when the planchet was struck. Look at this T. Looks funky, doesn't it? Identify the superior and inferior images, you can't.
I would say your photos match the CONECA listed 64D DDO-012, also all the doubling you show on the DDO-12 in my collection. There are only three listed RDV's (Straight G), in the listings...yours does match the DDO-012. The die gouge dot on the bust is a marker for the DDO-012 which should also confirm it. Your half looks like an EDS. Nice find.
You guys should leave the doubled dies to the experts which there's only a couple of us here ... Carry on ....
