Hi all, It's been a while since I've signed in and posted or commented. I've been playing Grampa for my entertainment (best title ever btw) Anyway, I've introduced them to what our money used to look like, they like everyone else love the IHP's and Buffalo Nickels... and that got me to thinking... I'm 55, the youth of today, and tomorrow, know little of history in comparison to what we were taught back in my day... it's tragic! So, I decided to try and give as many people as I can, a little incentive to do some research on History. I have a few coffee cans full of Indian Head Cents and Buffalo Nickels, more than I will ever do anything with. Trying to sell them for any real money would require finding one buyer, then they would let them sit again. So, I've been putting them back into circulation for a few months now, just a few at a time, here and there. I put 30 into a CoinStar machine with about $200 in modern and it took them all with no problem. I will admit that I am 100% biased, and personally would love to see these old designs make a comeback. I guess you kids would call it "I'm Raising Awareness", and rightfully so... Historical awareness is the key to our future freedom to enjoy cool new coin designs. It also reminds future generations that this land has been here for a real long time, and all of its people and history should never be forgotten, or rewritten. So, is anyone else willing to accept this mission? There is always a possibility... of self-destruction!!!
I'm a grampa also. All I have is all for them and I will enjoy them until my end. Their gift is my reward, pennies from heaven.
Lovely grandchild .......reminds me of my grandson CJ and his eating antics at that age. Kudos to Mom, as I adore that feeding method.
Who's choice was it the get the ears pierced? On the wheat cents, I did something similar about 15 years ago with older nickels pulled from slot machines. Had over 1000 that I dumped back into circulation.
