    This is a nice coin, but I see absolutely no luster, you would think it would have some to achieve a 53 with the apparent scratches and gauges going of the face
    maybe some details to boot ! no winner on this one, will post another soon.

    This one gets "the opposite of CAC award." Sorry, but giving that coin an AU-53 is ridiculous. The marks on the face would have had me figuring on a "details" grade when I submitted it. One does get $3 gold coins graded, however, because of the counterfeit problems that have plagued these coins since I started collecting in the 1960s.

    This one must be an MS-67. It's actually an MS-63.

    As a follow-up, this 1854-D, which is well known for weak strikes, is graded AU-55, CA

    Here's another. This 1854-O, which is another date that noted for weak strikes, is graded AU-50.
