Silver found in my change

Does anyone know what this says next to the year? Looks like IS, but I don't know enough to say.

Strange, this '48 I found in charge is older than the dime in my Mom's collection, which is older than the dime in HER Mom's collection. That's bass ackwards.

 

Moms do that. It is a genetic tick in moms, designed to confuse the hell out of the kids.
