Hi guys I have recently started collecting ancient Roman coins and I have purchased a Valerian I 253-260 AD Alexandrian Coin. It is a Billon Tetradachm which features a Laurel and cuir. Bust on the Obverse and an Eagle stg head turned holding a wreath in its beak on the reverse. It is around 22mm and weighs around 11g. I am a complete newbie at this and was wondering if you guys could advise what you think of this on terms of authenticity or how best to go about getting it authenticated or valued. any other advice or information would also be greatly appreciated. AK Π ΛI OYAΛEΡIANOC EV EVC, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / No legend: Eagle standing left, head right, wreath in beak. Regnal year L-Z across fields. Welcome to CT. In reference to your images, it would be a big help to members you are asking for help, to orient the image correctly and post as full size images. Thumbnails, although good and in focus, are not enlargeable making it harder to see any anomalies. Good luck with your future in this engaging hobby.

However, some Coin Talk Ancients members, may be expert enough, to know if the coin is authentic. Perhaps they will reply in this thread. When I'm trying to figure out, if an ancient coin is authentic, I search for the coin type on the following web site. Then, I compare the coin, with the coins on the web site.
