1992 D bubbling plating error

    Haven’t done CRH in sometime, but finally got to looking at a whole row of 1992D cent found a while back. No Close AMs but did come across this significant plating error on both sides.

    That one looks like its been plated over the original copper plating... odd color, no luster at all. I'm thinking it might be the new plating layer with the bubbles. Coin is damaged by the plating though.

    I have seen a lot of coins lately that have been plated over like cwart mentioned, even a few that were sprayed painted with copper colored spray paint.....So many people are doing things any way they want to...

    So bizarre. This was direct from a bank roll of all new cents (as far as I could tell). Bunch of 1992D rolls. I’ve seen lots of screwy things over the years too. This was a new one!

    I have collected some pretty wild plating blisters over the years. That one is definitely has some issues.
