Rim cud or finned rim? 1979 5c

    Found this CRH a few years ago. Just got back to it
    Found a like rim cud listed cuds-on-coins 1975. See picture
    Tried to pick it off with my thumbnail. It doesn’t budge

    I was totally thinking rim cud until the edge shot popped up. Would a cud be raised further above the rim? That has me wondering like you....

    So the collar die gives the rim it’s shape. Unless it’s broken

    I believe it's a Finned Rim caused by a High Pressure strike. The finning folded over.

    Nah o_O
    It's the width of the edge that seems wider than normal as evidence of Finned Rim. The one shown from 1975 on the Cuds on Coins website is probably incorrectly named as a Cud.
