The only Durrington hoard I know of was found in 1993. It was a Constantinian hoard of 3960 coins. CHRB X has a lot of info on it, but mentions no other hoards found in Durrington.

Thanks Victor, yeah this one was an eBay buy. The listing mentioned that this coin was from the hoard but I don’t know if that provenance is accurate. I took the 1799 for the date, could it be the coin number within the hoard in the literature?

Yes, 1799 is the same as your coin. There were actually 11 examples 1779-1789.

Awesome! That’s great information. Im guessing CHRB X is a book and not web resource. Is there a photo with the listing of the coin or hoard? I’d love to see what information is included about it. Is this text easy to find?

Yes, it is a series of books-- Coin Hoards from Roman Britain. There are pictures of some coins, but none of 1779-1789.
