My buddy owns a a plumbing business. He got a call from the laundromat, they said there was a clogged pipe. So he started to fish out the pipe and coins were coming out so he sent me a picture of what has been removed already. He put a camera into the pipe and said it is completely packed with more coins. He said he will send me more pictures later. so far one piece dollar and one walking liberty. Great Day to be a Plumber!!!!
And it must be a large pipe to get a Peace Dollar and a Walking Liberty Half in there, not to mention the other coins.
So who owns the coins now? Probably pay the laundromat to put in filter screens ... then they collect the coins and don't have to call a plumber to do it. Cal
Im sure they were caught in the lint trap. Most all municipal jurisdictions require lint filters be placed on commercial laundry sewers. Even hotel laundries have to have them. It is basically a tank with a screen drum in the center to trap lint and trash before the water leaves the building or property. Since they are underground, the old "out of sight, out of mind" rule is followed and they don't receive the routine clean out they should.
Wow to have a peace dollar/walking liberty so far, must be one ancient laundromat or at least the oldest I've ever heard of. @paddyman98 ditch the metal detecting and become a Plumber detector!!!.
Hard to tell, but there appears to be a lot of silver in those piles. Those coins need a bleach bath before I'd touch them. Quite gross actually. That's an amazing accumulation of coinage. My untrained eye would say decades of accumulating. Potentially nice score by your plumber friend.
I ain’t skeered. I’ll be happy to tend that pile…. I see hood cotter pins, hair Bobby pins….. And is that a bullet?
Ultrasonic cleaner, hot water and detergent, and they'll be finger-lickin' clean. Plumber should look for rings and gemstones. I know a lady that lost a 1 ct diamond in a clothes washer. Cal
Looks like to round(s) also along the collection Calling a plumber isnt cheap , trust me i know , i work in the field Wonder at who gets to keep the assortment of coinage ? Maybe a discount of the bill ?
Probably lucky pocket pieces that were left in pants pockets then came out during the wash. Could have happened last Wednesday.
