I just saw this thread for the first time. I read it 'cover to cover'. Fascinating story @canudigit . Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I'm a little confused though. If your friend has already chosen an auction house, why wouldn't you be authorized to divulge that piece of information? It would certainly garner interest from the members of this forum. Increased interest would equate to higher bidding
Glad you enjoyed the story masterswimmer! For sure this has been an amazing once in a lifetime experience for me, as well as my friend (the owner/heir). I promise to bring forth much more exacting details as particulars get settled with the auction house. Unfortunately the owner feels it is not proper protocol until then. Please remember she is a total rookie with all of this and very nervous about doing the wrong thing. I have no choice but to respect her wishes. Once confirmed sale dates are learned and the background facts of Uncle Daddy Warbucks himself are as complete as possible I would be most happy to post all I know. I never intended to leave this story unfinished and hanging after all the help I got from many members here. Closure is not far off!
IF your friend is serious she should contact Stacks and Bowers or Heritage and get theses coin in the flow as inflation and less tangible money is near? Or if she like to pass on to heirs that would be far more honorable for Daddy Warbuck?
Hi David! It took some pushing and hand holding but the entire set is finally in the possession of the selected auction house after considering consultations with several, including the ones you mention above. Believe me she doesn't need the money, and also has no one appropriate to pass them along to. As said much earlier, she has no interest in coin collecting or keeping the coins. The reality is these coins deserve to go where they are appreciated. That is what Uncle Daddy Warbucks would have wanted IMHO. I believe his coin collection was his pride and joy, and his ultimate passion as a bachelor who never married. Dreaming...if I was Little Orphan Annie you'd have to pry these out of my cold clench-locked hands on my death bed! Not that lucky - but smart enough to know if I can't have 'em passionate collectors should.
