So, I won't be able to check any responses you guys leave until Mon., but a good month-and-a-half ago, I found a pretty worn $1 FRN with a serial # very similar to the one above. The note was probably a 1995 release. I only have a few silver certs. and red-seal notes and don't collect paper money in general, but because it was a star-note AND a pretty low number, I figured it was worth keeping, even if in F/VF condition. However, I accidentally spent it mad, but I'm curious as to whether it may have brought any sort of premium. Hopefully not, though, since I spent it, hehe. Thanks in advance.
Really? No!! A small premium you think, or no? And Aiden, I thought you weren't a paper money person? Unless, of course, it's B.C., haha...
We'll never know unless you get it back or it pops up for sale somewhere. There is A LOT more on a note than a serial number. Series and block are very important. For example if it was a 1995 G-* block you spent a dollar. On the other hand if it was a 1995 K-* block you spent more than a dollar. It's good that you notice these things but you should look a little deeper. Just a serial number is like someone walking up to you and saying. I have an old penny at home - what's it worth? Hope this doesn't offend you. It's just stuff that "currency geeks" look for.
that sucks that you spent it! it might have been a web press note. a star note and a web press note would be worth alot!
The only web star note is the 1988-A F-* Haven't seen a web note in circulation in YEARS so I highly doubt it.
No offense taken. I had kept the note in my wallet, and spent it before I could toss it in my collection. Oh well. I've been meaning to pick up a good paper money reference book so I know what to look for, since obv. there's more to it than just serials and stars. Thanks again!
