Most of my older Washington Quarters are in that AG03-VG08 range. However, I have this 1948 that I know is mint state and I think it is on the higher end of that but I'm not sure. The mint states are tough for me because when I look at the PCGS photogrades for it, I see some areas of the coin that look better than the higher comparisons but maybe not on other areas.

I've included multiple pictures of the same coin in different lighting to show as much detail as I can. Some pictures have reflections and shadows that hide details. Some pictures may better show the luster vs others that may better show the quality of strike. Keep in mind that these are under magnification.

Please let me know what you think from a grade and value perspective - and also based on that whether you think it is worth cleaning / slabbing it.

    Very nice and clean example.
The scratch on the Chin prevents the coin from being a MS67. So I am at MS66 ;)

Beautiful coin. MS66 and struck a just teeny-weeny bit off plumb center.

I'm looking at MS66, the cheek hit is too noticeable. Beauty of a coin and nice Seinfeld reference. Regards.

I am in the MS category and the Quarter looks good IMO. MS64 to MS65. Be cautious about any small directional fine scratches across the high points. This will definitely bring the grade down.
