whats a 1982 D cent that weighs 2.5 grams worth? anyone know

I got a 1980 penny with a plating defects and weighs 2.5 grams anybody have a clue how much it's worth

1980 cents were not plated. Plating started mid 1982. They are copper plated zinc planchets. So What you are claiming to have is impossible.

 

You should also start your own separate thread. Pictures are a must to really determine what you may really have.

 

What may be confusing you is the mints did a metal alloy transition in mid year 1982. ( as stated above ). For example you can find 82's that weigh 2.5 g. and some that weigh 3.11 g. . But the one to look for as stated above is the 1982 small date D mint.
that weighs 3.11 gms.. Thus the birth of the crappy zincoln.

 

Exactly right and even the sellers on online sites claiming to have the 1982 D small date 3.11 grams are actually large dates and i call them out on their bs. One guy tried convincing me and I'm like uhhh no look at the 2 it was clearly a large date 2 just scammers!
