Never would have guessed I'd eventually see as many as three of you guys from here. Definitely can't wait! Aidan, you sure you can't make down south for FUN in January?
I enjoyed the San Francisco Historical Bourse the two times I went. Unfortunately it is no longer operating. The NYINC show is on my bucket list and I plan to attend the one in 2017. I have friends who go to the FUN show and say it is as good a place for small collectors to find coins as the NYINC. I will put in a plug for the CGCC's (Greater Houston Coin Club) Houston Money Show, Dec 1 - 3 this year. Most of the 250 tables are for US coins and bullion products. But... the show has several ancient and world coin dealers. I have seen as few as 6 and as many as a dozen. This year we will have one less with the passing of Tom Cederlind. If your plans bring you to Houston the first few days of December, stop and see the show.
Thanks for the response guys! I'm in New York every couple of years, so that might be my first coin show!
NYINC is a nice show, I typically am there for a day or two. It's also in my neighborhood, which is of course convenient. Next year's show is likely the last at the Waldorf, given the plan to redevelop that piece of real estate.
If you are on the West Coast, the show in Long Beach is the largest (although not like it used to be), and held 3 or 4 times a year. You can Google it for dates. It is in the convention center and has several hundred tables.
Hopefully they can find another site that will enable them to move the show back into early December. It was a nice vacation to see NYC in the holiday season.
Waldorf is awesome and also the show. I went back in 2011 and the memory of that experience still resides with me.........pity I'm not much of a collector of 'classical' coins.........but I'm trying.
I will certainly be at the FUN show next January and may even have a table there (have done this show a few times but actually much prefer to go around and hunt for ancients). Maybe we can meet up at some point.
Given what ancient collectors look like typically, (no offense anyone), I sure as heck WOULDN'T want to see one.
What's a stairmaster? Tmi, and we did not need any ideas in our head. Also wondering, how many members are going to the NYINC
There is only one thing that I can think of that would stop my from going to NYINC every year for the rest of my life, and that is the Grim Reaper.
