as of today that quarter has $2.35 worth of silver. i have been searching rolls and got very excited for a half a second today - thought i had silver dime but it turned out to be a 69, not 64 -Steve
you all know the odds are if you find them in circulation, either the kids got into Dad's collection or some dope head pulled a burglary and has no idea what he has. I have gotten some wheaties but thats about all.
I took the change out of my wifes pants pocket this morning and got a 1964 D dime!:smile Small find, but I love that silver.
my dad found a 1952D wheat cent in his change. i now have it in my collection! he gives all the old coins to me!
Earlier this week, I emptied my pockets after work on the nightstand. I noticed the following morning, a coin in the bunch looked just a bit different, it was a 1939 S nickel. I'd say a VF-F. I cant remember another coin near that old I've found in pocket change. Although, when I was about 10, my mom used to take me with her to the bowling alley, while she bowled I played in the arcade. There were pop, candy and cigarette machines there. In the change tray of one, I found a dateless V nickel.
I have still yet to find a silver quarter or dime in circulation! However, I have found Wheaties, and even a buffalo nickel (1930-S!!) but now that I work at a restaurant i get to look through the cash register
Been going through all my loose change that I have saved up over the years... I have found several pre 64 nickles, with a 1946 being the earliest. About 4 pre 64 dimes.... Lots of Wheats... I've bought about $160.00 in Kennedys, all loose, not in rolls and have found nothing earlier than 71. I probably have three rolls of those now... About three months ago a lil' ol' lady came into my local bank with a cotton sack. Said her husband died and wanted to clean out the house. The bag had $200.00 in Liberty Walking half dollars! The bank teller tried to explain to her what they were, but the lil' ol' lady didn't care. So the bank teller bought them all. Here's the kicker... The bank teller doesn't care either! She just threw them into her basement to sit on until her retirement... :rolling:
I got a 1962D quarter yesterday. It's the 2nd silver quarter in 3 weeks. I've only ever found 3 silver quarters total. Kind of makes me want to go get some rolls from the bank to see what people have turned in.
I had a good day today! I had a lady at work give me a 2 cent and a 10 cent Euro. I also found a 1963 quarter in change that I would say was an AU. Not a bad day.
Counting the office soda change yesterday I found a 2005 Canadian Saskatchewan quarter; I hadn’t seen one of those before. It’s pretty, but it’s a bit scuffed up.
By my third trip to Lowe's to get more pieces for the new garbage disposal, I was getting pretty sick of the trip. As I paid for the last item that I needed the cashier handed me a very nice 1937 Lincoln. Sometimes persistence and mechanical incompetence really pays off. :goofer:
I just got a 1957 Wheat Cent in change... the drought its over! haha, I hadnt found an older coin in a while.
Every time I walk by one of those coinstar machines, i look where it spits out rejects, and one day i found 9 to 10 old lincoln cents (wheatstock) including a 1943 steel penny
