The hardest part about the internet is "interpretation" of the written word. Many people will interpret what people say, and how they perceive that statement in various ways from just shooting the breeze to being totally an a%$hol. And, of course, people have various knowledge and beliefs, skills level, etc and all that ends up in a big soup of contraditions and conflictions when people are hard headed on their stance. To me, many people can be correct at certain levels. It's like any other hobby/profession. One learns as time goes on and (hopefully) improves their skills and knowledge. It all comes down to how well one accepts any type of criticism or information conflicts.
This ought to go in a "sticky" or whatever in the heck they're called. <thumbs-up thing> Why don't we have one of those thumbs-up things, anymore, anyway? We used to have one. Everybody has one but us.
I don't think so...only one person here does and he figured it out somehow. In a few months I may drop off this site and "Insider" will be gone forever.
That's funny! And only in good humor. You should stick around,@Insider We would have to learn you all over again!
We wouldn't want you to leave, and appreciate exchanges of objective thoughts. Some are just incapable of continuous "proper" social interaction, and seemingly lack the intelligence to understand a polite corrective suggestion for change of interactive methods. Your future objective participation, I believe, will be appreciated by the majority. JMHO
My theory is "life is too short to be so serious all the time". Were I a cat, I'd already be a couple of lives down. Have fun. This is a hobby. Hobbies are supposed to be fun, right? I enjoy both @Insider and @ldhair immensely when they're not fighting. And if they keep it up, I'm going to my room and hide under my bed.
No games, just a misunderstanding as I did not make my thought clear. NOTE: I was not clear about dropping out. I LOVE CT and would miss all of you. What I was thinking of doing is dropping out for a while and coming back as "myself" (that would have been a good name) using my real identity like Daniel Carr, and Mike Diamond do. On the other hand, I believe other numismatists like Tom Delory, Roger Burdett, and Andy Lustig "hide" their ID. So, the only folks who can keep me away from CT are the mods...
If Insider or Outsider don't float your boat any more, there's always Apple Cider, or Hard Cider, or Cider House Rules (mmm..., Charlize Theron) [snap back]. Hey, if you had your own site, you could have Cider House Rules.
Should the need ever arise, you can keep the user name you already have and simply post who are. I can pretty much guarantee you'd only need to do it once
At times, "Insider" has been sarcastic and very, very, hard on some posters - even you; yet you're not a crybaby. That's why I thought about a new start although I should continue to be the same pit bulldog as before.
Small problem there though, we do not allow users to have multiple user names. Nor do we allow user name changes on a whim. Sorry.
Sounds like a present member cannot quit for 6 months and rejoin with a new name. So "Insider" forever or nothing. That's OK. Didn't know you collected guns also. I tried to ID the SG (Is this called a thread highjack?) by the engraving but no luck?
