    From what I can tell, the TPGs downgraded this to Details (damaged) because of the hash mark on the reverse.

    I disagree.

    I think it proves the coin actually made it to the orient and back again. While there, it was weighed and certified with the hash mark. I read that these were sometimes repackaged into bags of 100 and then the bags were exchanged intact instead of the individual coins. I could see a coin as a candidate for that, since there is exactly one time it was examined and marked.

    I would think the hash mark would make it more valuable because of the history it tells - In My Humble Opinion!

    The coin is getting prettier. It is in my type coin set in an Intercept Shield album. The cardboard in impregnated with reactive chemicals that “intercept” the chemicals that tarnish silver - by being more reactive than silver. I think they are reversing some of the dark toning, allowing the coin to become more colorful. Regrettably, these are my only pictures.
