Here’s a sample slab they sent me. Totally out of the blue as I’ve been pretty out of it. The last 3 years. My life has taken precedence and rebuilding it thought people will appreciate though
I didn’t know that as I’m kind of out of the loop. I was surprised to see a package addressed to Bill as I legally changed my name a couple years ago
I didn’t think they had even 5000 collector members. I know I was around 2000 or so. But that was probably 2014 or so
They are coming down in price. The first few to pop up were bringing 200-300. Now they are down to the low $100s. I'm guessing they will settle closer to $50 in the not too distant future (maybe even less if there turns out to be a lot more than the 5,000 mentioned).
I figured long term someone might care slab collectors probably. Coin ain’t worth crap. I’ll just toss in a drawer probably me I like my lady liberty draped capped or seated
I posted to give an idea of what the cac slab is like. Is deeper than a pcgs really deep edge ridges. Probably stack good with itself and not scratch easy. Nii oh t compatible with any other though
I'm technologically challenged, Bethany. If I can do it, believe me, your canine and feline friends can do it
I’m in the 1100 area from early 2009. I suppose it possible they’ve picked up 3000 since 2014. As often as they close membership it will be pretty close. Maybe some get more than 1. All 5000 are of the same 2000-P Virginia State quarter.
This is the first time I've seen one at an angle and saw how deep the edge goes, interesting. I did watch an interview where CAC was having a supply issue with their cores and are running about a month behind. I don't think that's too unusual for a beginning business doing a soft open. One thing I'm not a fan of is the label color, but that's just a personal preference. Reminds me about if the PCGS "doily" labels.
450 were sent to members recently, an another 450 are being mailed to embers as we speak, and the 150 original investor/partners received various amounts and free samples will also be handed out at the upcoming ANA, where CAC will have a table. The samples are all VA., because that is the location of the new grading facility. Those selling on eBay or any other venue can do so, of course, but those buying might think that purchase through, before leaping on the "future rarity" bandwagon.
Good to know. I’m not thinking it’s anything rare. I just thought people here would like to see it. It’s not anything I collect but it is kind of fun. And it was free
Different tastes for different people. I love the label. And pcgs doily’s are my favorite slab followed by the old green label
The upcoming ANA sample slabs will have different inserts and won’t be Virginia, they will be Pennsylvania. The 5000 number for collector members was the number JA gave. I don’t know when or how many different lots these collector member samples were sent out. After looking through some of the CACG forum threads it appears the 5000 Virginia sample slabs produced were sent to the 150 original investors, who were sent 10 each, dealers (not sure how many they were sent), and collector members (450 plus 450 as @charley said).
