I'm looking to get some graded older silver certificates for the kids, specifically the 1896 and 1899 series, cause I really like the designs.

Are there any auction houses or dealers you have had good luck with in the past? I'm thinking of those that deal primarily in currency, and am very familiar with the usual auction companies, such as Heritage, GC, and Stacks, and of course the Bay.

    Thanks in advance.

If I were you, I would reach out to other forum members b/c most just wish to break even & buy something else. Some of my best deals came from other CDN collectors on our PM forum (in Canada). There's several long time US collectors listing old US notes on the BST section of PMF. Become a member, contribute let others know what you want & then check it out. A US collector friend has negotiated many nice large sized notes from collectors he's networked with over there.

Spinks is another big world auction house. I've never used them (have no idea) since I've usually been over-extended with WBA I've listed below. Since they're big, they may have what you're looking for.

World Banknote Auctions is super easy & far cheaper/more hassle free platform than HA or any of the other big auction houses (lower buyer's premium/ no surcharges to use your CC, etc). I don't collect US but I have heard positive feedback from those who do. I have won several World banknotes from Dennis when he was on eBay & ever since he launched his own platform. He just listed his 3rd US auction plus a number of Naval Commander series auctions (not sure what the difference is). Use the auction app from your phone or bid from your computer: both work quite well.

    Disclaimer:
I know nothing about these "new kids on the block" & do not recommend nor endorse them from experience (b/c I have yet to participate). This post is strictly FYI & they're called 17 Auctions. It's a new, European outfit I believe.

Apparently, today (09/17/2023) they have a "Speculators & Investors: banknotes for wholesalers" auction. Their platform looks similar to the one World Banknote Auctions employ (I mentioned on 07/20/23). Please read the fine print & participate only if you can afford to.
