Is this a triple strike coin and this 1986 looks like it’s a different material than all the other 86 Pennie’s maybe all zinc ?

That's strange and a first for me.:wacky: Where or how did you come to acquiring this coin? Do you have a Pic of the reverse?

The coin came from a miss formed or oblong bank roll from a box of Pennie’s I bought in Wyoming 3 months ago

My vote is post mint damage. Someone was bored.

Where's @paddyman98 or @Fred Weinberg when you need them?! This is just too weird. See how the design shows even in the blank area? Also, see how the rims are undisturbed? Very precise cuts if this is a "Home job".

@Tom lynch? I know it's a chore but can we see some more pics? Side angle perhaps and just larger Pics cropped?

Sleeping! I got up to drink water!

    Obviously post Mint damaged.
Not a mint error of any kind.

The person who altered it would know how it was done.

    Now back to sleep!

Still scratching my head at how it was created but if Ed says PMD then it's PMD I guess. :(

It's still not a mint error of any kind :stop:

Also.. You don't need to quote yourself. You've done it a few times o_O

    And it's pennies not pennie's

    But really, it's cents.

The coin shows signs of damage. It’s been made to look like an error after it left the mint. Ask yourself one question, How would lis happen to a coin in the minting process?

Sure.. But Penny and the plural Pennies is fine.
Even the US Mint describes the coin as a Penny.

It looks like an elongated cent that didn't make it all the way through the machine.
