Anybody get one? Mine was a week late shipping but was a normal strike. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...m_source=facebook&hss_channel=fbp-44821210086
That price for a piece of paper, that can’t even be tied a particular coin is profoundly idiotic. Wish I had one. I’d keep the coin and put the certificate up for sale. Rick L.
Personally struck by Gibson? do they mean he pushed the button that started the press? Or maybe he used a hammer?
Seems little is known as this point from the information I tried to find on any difference to the actual coins.
Are they FirstStrike eligible? Probably not if opened, but you can't tell if it's one of the first 200 struck unless it's opened...
Yeah bfd! I'd like to have one only to sell as there's truly nothing different about the coin itself, sell that idea to someone else!
These guys (mint) can't win, right? They made these coins accessible through subscription so everybody who wanted one could get one without the bloody nail-biting on 'game day'. And they throw a bone in.....a bone that I could give a fig about, but idiots are going nuts over it in the aftermarket.....It ain't the mints fault, it's the bloody hair splitting types.
It wasn’t really a gimmick since the mint never said a word about this until after the coins were sold out. It didn’t generate any extra sales.
Correct. The gimmick starts now, when people reap their Obscene Profits™ from the certificates. I imagine the ceremonial striking went something like this: Operator: "Ma'am, we've set the press to do a run of 200. Just press this button to start." Director: "This button?" Operator: "No, ma'am, this button." Director: "Like this?" Operator: "Yes. ... You can let go now." Another golden opportunity blown by the mint to make one of the dies special -- even just dot somewhere to make the coin look special when separated from the card.
The intended results were probably achieved, drive up subscription buyers, create more interest in modern mint products. Gotta say, I got on the website to make sure my subscriptions were updated for the proofs and RP commerative set. Congratulations to the 200 people. I also think they should have made them slightly more detailed in some way to identify the rarity. And perhaps they will, never know.
I respectfully disagree. They planted a very real "fear of missing out" seed in the minds of many potential buyers for the next several years, which will increase sales.
Agree, this will make sales increase because maybe they will throw something "special" in the upcoming proofs and reverse proofs. Look, I buy from the mint on occasion, I have nothing bad to say about them. I just think that it is a gimmick regardless of when they let be known of the certificates. Regards.
Nope mint screwed the TPGs on this one... Had they announced it, you would have seen the usual hype about submitting your SEALED box in case you got one, like the numbered COAs of a couple of years back. No hype, no extra TPG revenue.
