Just picked up a pair of coins for my German collection which I really like. Nothing overly rare or valuable but some nice eye appeal. The 1874-A 1 Mark has some very nice toning which appears to be covering an old cleaning. It looks to me like there is a little wear on this one. The 1974-G 5 Mark has booming luster and a DMPL appearance. Really a stunner in hand. Picked up both about a week ago but finally got time to get them photographed.
One of my favorite things about modern German coins are the many interpretations of the eagle. That guy looks especially menacing with those huge talons.
I do too. I love the how the eagle changes over the eras but still stays somewhat consistent. It's really neat. The 1951-74 5 Mark coins are really stunners. Big hefty silver coins...really sharp.
