Is this 2013 no mint mark penny fake? It has a flat yellowish tint and is a thin coin. IMG_5386.jpg IMG_5387.jpg IMG_5388.jpg

Just damaged and circulation wear and still a cent. Also it wouldn't be worth it to fake a zinc cent. You would waste more money during the process, the metals alone would cost much more then 1 cent during the process.

Thanks for the reply. It just has a very thin feel to it and didn't look real. You are correct as to why would someone waste money faking a penny. I didn't think of that til now.

That means it was minted at the Philadelphia Mint.

Copper plated zinc planchet cents weighing 2.5 grams were minted starting in 1982. They are lighter than the copper planchet weighing 3.11 grams. Some of the copper plating was somehow scraped/scratched off the surface so it gives it that thin appearance.

Just a normal zinc cent minted in Philadelphia.
