My bank teller accidentally ordered a box of half’s and asked me if i wanted them. Well i couldn’t resist even though the last few boxes produced nothing. So, with much excitement, I went home, carried the heavy load into the house, slung it up on top of the desk and began to rip the box open, hoping to see something special on the ends, but no! well, I was not disappointed yet I told myself there’s 1000 coins here maybe there’s still hope. so now begins the Roll Search halfway through the box and nothing. ARRG So I took a break and figured I’d come back to the madness in a little while because there’s still 500 coins left to search. Back at it I reach in and grab a Roll open it up not expecting to find anything because that’s been the trend and lo and behold a 2004 proof unfortunately it was not silver pops out and it’s in immaculate condition. finally something!!! Next roll a bicentennial with a small clip planchet. A couple rolls after that a Ben Franklin now the excitement is stirring up in me maybe just maybe there’s more. Then I ripped open another roll. Two more proofs. well now we’re down to 13 rolls I said let’s finish this then a 40% pops out and then another and then another and then another they kept coming until the end. I figured I’d share my experience with you guys don’t ever give up there’s still treasures out there. Thanks for looking and happy hunting.
Very nice. Which bank do you use? I used to get the NF String type boxes from Flagstar but now they have the Brinks style boxes. So presumably they are the same carrier as my dump bank.
yes, it’s definitely harder to find the treasures nowadays my bank is Amiris and it’s also looms rolls
Sweet finds. I’ve never searched half’s. I figured they are well searched out by now and banks seem annoyed when you even ask for loose half dollars. It’s like tipping your hand that you are a coin nut to the tellers. I like to try to fly beneath their radar to avoid interference, resistance, or them getting interested in searching everything before I can. Maybe I’m too paranoid….lol…
I never had any luck w getting a box As mentioned , figured most have been searched and sorted thru by now Might have to consider in giving it another try
The bank I use orders them for me and has a minimum of $1000 or 2 boxes. It's nice to change it up from 1 cent boxes I normally hunt. Either way it's no loss and maybe a gain. Once a treasure hunter always a treasure hunter!!!!!!
When we had it going we were doing 8 boxes a week. That was back when the banks had counting machines and they were free to use. Wouldn't even think of doing that volume today.
my credit union also has a counting machine makes it a lot easier. Also son-in-law works there My credit union has one as well and my son in-law works there. So, no problem here.
Not any currently. Area is searched out, at least with brinks. Some other guy at this CU does a number of boxes a week, but he's picking up halfs out of state, about an hour away.
Great finds! Finding silver grows more exciting as time continues to pass due to it becoming more difficult. It’s also inspiring having good hauls like this as it keeps the searching bug alive
