Going to be away for the next week so I can't see any of my babies... I mean coins. So I'm going to post one more before I leave tomorrow. After I come back, I will post more coins. Hopefully the mailman will have delivered them already, man I feel so addicted to these things. Cilicia, Hieropolis - Kastabala 2nd - 1st century B.C. / AE21 , 7.8g O: Turreted head of Tyche right, monogram behind R: IEROPOLITWN TWN PROSTW PURAMW, city goddess seated left in kalathos, eagle under seat SNGLev 1564 In the meantime going to lurk around and post random things.
Nice Tyche @icerain ! I only have one from Cilicia... Cilicia - Tarsos AE 19 164 BCE Tyche Zeus seated counterstamped Bow
I do have a couple other Tyches, but from the Republic... Roman Republic Anonymous AE Semuncia 217-215 BC Turreted Bust Horseman with Whip, ROMA below Crawford 39/5; Sear 619
Amazingly cool OP-score ... congrats, icerain Ummm, I have a few Cilician coins from that era (wanna see 'em?) => Tyche is in the middle-two examples ... very cool coin-types (congrats again, my coin friend)
Its like learning a new language, my brain can't handle it. btw. never heard of Zakynthos, anyone have any coins from there?
I have one, but it's not pretty. ELIS, ISLANDS off, Zakynthos AE15. 1.86g, 15mm, ELIS, Islands off, Zakynthos, circa 3rd-2nd centuries BC. Sear Greek 2919. O: Laureate head of Apollo right. R: I-A on either side of tripod; all within wreath. Most will prefer looking at a picture of present day Zakynthos instead...
Let me know when you get one of them, Bing. I'll be open to trading my Zakynthos coin for your Zakynthos boat .
ahaha ... it's kinda funny living in a bubble up here in the north ... => I've always pronounced it "Teesh" Thanks for the ejucation
