I got quite a bit of Macedonia coins but do like the portrait. The details of the hair always gets my attention. Oh yeah, and this one has an animal on it too. Kings of Macedonia, Kassander 39-297 B.C. / AE18, 4.45g O: Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress R: KASSAN-DROU above lion, lying right, EY in right field AMNG 1 I hope I got the Id'ing right this time.
More animals are always good. I been a fan of animals in ancient coins thanks to @stevex6 unhealthy addiction with animal coins, and those wonderful photos of them he always posts. Beautiful coin @icerain . The portrait is quite an eye catcher. You did well there.
Nice coin. Kings of Macedon is one of the prabably a dozen collections I'm working on. Another is for some reason all things Pax which shouldn't take long.
that's a nice lookin' coin IR, especially dig the obverse. i don't have one of this cat either...he's on the list.
Nice! I THOUGHT I had a Kassander. I will soon... Great OP Post, love the AE's! Nice Herakles and love that patina!
Ugh! As I have been newly photographing and/or filing my coins, I DID have a couple Kassanders... NO LIONS though! I want one! Makedonon Kassander 319-297 BCE AE 20 Herakles in lion skin Youth on Horse prancing, monogram below horse (both coins) Ref: Sear 6754 var SNG Cop 1142
Just looked through my coins, got about 7 coins from Macedonia Kings. @Alegandron those are nice. If I see coins like that I would try to add them to my collection.
