Saw these marks in front of Lincoln’s face on a 2019 cent. Is this an example of feeder finger damage marks? If so, what does that actually mean? I guess I’m trying to understand why all coins don’t show these marks since every planchet is handled by the feeder fingers. Why is this one showing these scratches?
I think the lines on your cent are die polishing/cleaning line, caused when the die was cleaned. They are abrasion marks that are on the die and transferred to the coin when struck. Feeder finger marks are also marks on the die caused by the fingers hitting the die. They are usually on the reverse side of Lincoln cents. https://www.error-ref.com/accidental-die-abrasion/
