ok quick discription before i do anything.. coin has a smooth waxy surface and no visible date whatsoever... on close examination turning her in a light i catch the image of a 4 with crosslet...examination of the reverse shows what appears to be a die crack running above mer of america (possibly a bit longer)... I can't make any details of the ty of liberty... I think i'm gonna give her a boil in the morning and see if the waxy coat may cover more i'll decide from there if it's headed to ngc for conservation or if I'm just off on another pipedream lol (I'm voting on pipedream btw) anyhoo... here she is 1st pics...
I can't make out much. Just the main type of coin. It looks like someone already tried to preserve it in my opinion. Love New Hampshire by the way! Maybe they used something like this?
probably something very like that.. a boil in demineralized water will usually remove anything like that though As for loving NH?? You up here visiting or for last sundays coin show?
Connecticut ain't shabby either... I was born in RI but most of my family has scattered now.. 1/2 the - Edited - clan is now in Stirling Ct some here in NH and others in ME.. we tend towards the sea and the wild places
Hey @mrweaseluv it's apparent you used consistent lighting positioned at about 3:30-4 o'clock. How about taking some pix while positioning light from the opposite side, and maybe both sides simultaneously to eliminate shadows completely. Three obverse pix with the same lighting doesn't offer us any varied perspective. Only thing I can tell is, she's facing right. Have you climbed Mt Monadnock? I must have made the trek up a dozen times. Good hiking up there. I also skied Crotched Mtn easily 200 times.
I've done Mt Chocoura and the 3 sisters and hiking at Mt Washington many times.. I live 1/2 way up Mt Teneriffe but she's just a foothill topping out at 1100ft.. but I haven't done Monadnock. I stick to near level hiking/walking now. As for skiing sorry that's a big Nope I don't do 30mph strapped to 2 long sticks and holding 2 more for balance I'll stick to my slow but steady snowshoes ((throws a tarp over the arctic cat))
Now THERE'S a blast from the past. I used to live in Littleton, MA and would go to Boy Scout camp near Jaffrey, NH. That always included a hike up Mt Monadnock. Time period: About 1950 and 1955.
10..15 with shipping... was something that caught my eye about it lol.. but in the end it's a few days of entertainment while I put it though conservation for no real purpose
I'm into the rail trails in NH. Flat and level for the most part. They are everywhere. There's a book by Charles F Martin that outlines most of them. I'm into construction and it is unimaginable what these people had to do by hand so long ago to build them.
