As I am a value PM hunter (I'll aim for an "in pocket" price of "spot"), you don't win very much gold, and even less graded. So won this coin at $235 and tolerated the 'handling' and tax (CA) to pocket at $268. So, it is an ICG graded coin, but I'll let people ponder and respond as to what/how it should be graded at. These are smaller than I would have guessed and I really haven't looked closely at the photos yet myself, but for the money, I have no complaints.
I would say that it grades AU-50. The luster and the amount wear suggests a better AU grade, but the surfaces are a bit "chippy" which would lower it to that level.
Not bad these are nice small coins. The last qtr eagle i bought cost me $235.00 in F12 from alaska coin exchange in 2014 and it was an indian head.
Great coin. I'm just now thinking about the Lower coin size for collection. I've only got about 5 coins from prior to 1900.
I have AU58 comparable coins slabbed by NGC and PCGS. It's definitely AU, and might have received MS60. JMHO
Boy, some of you are GOOOD. It came as AU53, closed 3, details scr. rev. That's what I'm kind of wondering about. Would they be referring to the spot between the T and E in States?
And others: right of U, between tip of olive branch and lowest arrowhead. In photos, none of them seem really bad so maybe this coin is on the bubble? Nothing really substitutes for having the coin in hand.
