Nice inheritance! Those are called American Silver Eagles or commonly ASE. They are typically tied to the spot silver charts which is a little better than $24.00 an ounce currently and they generally trade in the $35.00-$50.00 range.... Don't try to clean them or rub them... Run down to the local bookstore and go to their hobby selection and pick yourself up some capsules to put them in and keep them protected. Cool inheritance!

They are both 1986, the first year and they've minted them every year since. You're off to a good start, only 36 more to go!

Wow! You have got you some very nice American Silver Eagles, both minted in 1986. As has been mentioned, you need to preserve them, both because their value and secondly, they are a gift from someone special. You may want to have them graded if they are in good condition. Everyone here has their own opinion as to have them graded and if you do decide to have them graded, there are two grading companies...NGC and PCGS. There are a few more secondary grading companies that many members like. It's up to you where you want to go now. My father left me his coin collection and it took me several months and emails to members to decide what is the route to go.
    Best of luck and congratulations.

I have been trying to fill in the American Silver Eagle from 1986 to 2011 and especially the ASE's that are part of a set.

The 1986 ASE’s trade for a bit of a premium due to their being the first year of issue. Latest auction results on eBay are in the $40 to $50 range. Not a rare coin but there will always be demand.

What ever ya do, don't waste your money getting these coins graded......it will not add any value to the coins and it will put you under water in cost basis. Best to put them in an cointain, 2x2 or similar encapsulant.
