I picked this up on eBay for under 70 bucks shipped and definitely wasn’t disappointed when seeing it in hand. It’s not high grade and not in a top tier slab, but it it has the nicest “circ cam” toning of any early modern European coin in my collection. It definitely saw some use in 17th century Germany but doesn’t look like it was messed with much since then. It’s a half dollar sized silver coin with a clear date from the 1600’s. What’s not to like? Feel free to post other recent bargains if you’ve got them.
Very attractive coin, congratulations! I don't know what is a bargain price or not for a given coin, but here are my 2x 2/3 thalers: Saxony 2/3 Thaler 1767 (ex mount) Hannover 2/3 Thaler 1829 (holed)
I think any coin is a bargain if the enjoyment it provides to the buyer is more than what they paid. Given the history of yours I’m sure they qualify. The 2/3 Thalers seem to have a lot of bang for the buck. A lot of collectors prefer full thalers so the demand for minors is probably lower, especially in lower circulated grades.
