Looks like a plated replica of a dinar.

Thanks but I have tested it at 22 carat.

Doesn't mean it isn't plated though. What are the dimensions?

All the signs lead to plated. Lets not add on to the goofy designs.

If it's been tested and confirmed to be 22 carat - or ~90% - gold, in what sense might it be "plated"? I assume that any competent test of the metallurgical composition would reveal a base metal core, if there is one. I'm not understanding.

Yes I do agree. I have verified this as solid 22ct Gold and am still hoping someone might be able to identify it for me. I believe it to maybe be Indian rajguts or maybe Princely States. I have seem similar weird designs for figures but not this one.

If I am not mistaken, if something were plated in 22 K gold, a Sigma tester would show it to be 22 K gold no matter if it were plated on aluminum. What are the dimensions?

How did you test the coin? Did you test the entire coin, or did you just test the surface of the coin? Also, what is the maximum diameter of the coin?

whilst I am grateful for all the comments on whether or not the coin is gold or not. Is there anyone that actually knows what it the writing on the reverse says or even which country I should be looking at?

Interesting piece.I think it might be a jewelers imitation of a Vijayanagar Empire gold pagoda.Tuluva or Aravidu dynasty mashup. The Artist didn’t pay much attention to detail including the Hindu inscription. It’s one of those pieces that can drive you crazy looking for a match.I wish you luck and have fun in your quest.

Most of his coins, unfortunately, are fake...
