I think this coin seriously undergraded but I won't complain as I paid over list for the grade on the slab but that's fine with me as I'm damn happy to win this one

Something is not quite right, especially on the reverse.

Nice date to have anywhichaway.

 

I don't think the coin is authentic (and the slab would not be either). Date looks wrong, obverse rim looks wrong, and the overall strike/wear/color pattern is inconsistent with anything I've seen on a Morgan.

Since it is an NGC slab have you entered the cert number into cert verification and seen if the NGC imaged coin is a match?

 

I’m going to guess it has a weak strike. Call me crazy. I don’t see an ear

XF'ish.......the breast feathers (reverse) are completely worn.

XF40 Details

The reverse is very odd. No breast feathers distinguishable, at all. The rest of the rev actually has visible details.

The obv shows lots of wear. I can't see anything leading to AU. With the totally worn breast feathers and the wear on her face I'm comfortable with my XF40 grade.

As for details, the coin looks like its been buffed.

 

I think you are correct.
I found the slab on eBay and the listing has been removed. But the seller has others where the cert number does match up with the NGC photo.

@mrweaseluv is this the coin? If so, something happened here. Either the fake coin has been put into a cracked real slab or it's a fake slab with a fake coin.

yes she is... spotted this myself about an hour ago and working on reverting the sale already.. strange but I did "glance" at the ngc photo initially but didn't catch the differences though i should have... if I had just loaded the full sized pic it would have been obvious but the auction was in last minutes so i didn't do as complete a check as i usually do... One of these day's I'll learn not to rush lol

 

On a side note, you have to agree she was NOT a VG 10 lol (fml)

 

Sorry Weasel it’s a definite fake . The date is completely off ! Among some other things . But the numerals are wrong for such a nice date and mm ! I didn’t even look at the slab # as there were other tells .
