Picked this out of a box of circulated Merc's from my LCS yesterday. I don't see a 1943 posted here but the 1944's are close. http://www.maddieclashes.com/atypical-u-s-ten-cent/
I love die clashes. I have found several Roosevelt dimes with them as well as Lincolns and have several others I've picked. That one is a very nice.
@ken454 @Seattlite86 @ldhair @MKent If you guys have any pictures of yours, post a few here. I'd like to see them.
I wish I had more but this is the only one I have photographed and likely one of the only ones I own. It's pretty weak but something nonetheless. I hope to own more!
Here is one of my 3cent nickels with a die clash on both obverse and reverse. The reverse is weak and doesn't show too well in the pics. The obverse is very good with the clash behind the neck actually showing the vertical lines of the one on the reverse. I'll try and post more but as you can see my pics aren't that good. WOW! That's one of the EDS's I've seen of this variety. You may wish to remove the green crud for its next owner.
Are we looking at the same spot on your coin? I think you have a nice retained cud or rim cud at the 11/12 o'clock position on the rev. You could be talking die clash plus retained or rim cud on one coin! I haven't done an in-depth search. This may be a new find. Check out these links on Cud-on Coins: http://www.error-ref.com/anvil-die-retained-cud/ http://cuds-on-coins.com/three-cent-nickel-cuds/ You can also contact the guys on the cuds-in-coins website for their opinion. Nice coin! Good luck!
I would but it looked like that many years before I even sent it to PCI. It's in an old green, 10 digit holder. It's been happy in it's current holder for too many years to mess with it.
I had PCI slab my set of FE clashes back in the 90's. That's the last time I was able to cherrypick one. None of my pieces are over VF but they do show the clashes.
These were fun to look for. They were easy to find until they came out in the Cherrypickers guide. That really changed things. I never could cherrypick the quarter with the cent clash. I had to reach in my wallet for it. I'll post it in a few.
