I think if you read ND's posts he has said that the price will go up....but of course we will also have $8 more dollars of face value in the set.

Think the mint sets and the proof set will be very popular. The mint sets in particular will offer collectors a chance to get some better grade circulated presidential coins if they want. And if they come out before all presidential coins are released, then you can get them in these sets first

I want the proof set mainly to continue my collection of proof sets that I begun years ago. Want to complete the silver state quarter program which I like and really just want to collect them for that purpose. They are coming out pretty late so my plans are to get one of each of the mint and proof sets when they first come out.

Do not mean this as a derogatory remark but who know what is going to happen with some of the delays and problems the mint is having this year.

As far as an investiment, who knows .

I agree with bama guy. I think the real value of these will be well down the road when the results of people breaking up the sets will be known. A lot of these sets are being broken up and it is not yeat known exactly how many exist in what years. One thing to watch for is how late they will be issuing them this year. But as we all know, it will come down to supply and demand.

    mint unc set

my guess is mint unc set is better than other two type.

When you say better, are you talking about potential for future value? Maybe others have different opinions but I like the silver sets myself for future potential if I had to pick one over the other. Take for example the 1999 silver set. Granted others have not gone up in value like this particular set, but overall not as many sets made as the uncs. So when they get broken open, it just creates less available for future collections. The silver sets are really nice. However, I must caveat the above with the comment that I collect coins because I like the looks and not necessarily for future values.

I agree with dragon about the silver proof sets , they are awesome. Also keep in mind, this will be the first year for the presidential dollars. That program is supposed torun until 2016. I'm going to buy at least 5 sets of each, silver, clad and mint. then sit on the other four for potenial profits down the road. Look what happen with 1999 silver set first year issue for the quarters, last checked it's selling for around 320.00 on

If you buy all three I promise you will have some defective coins. The mint's quality control earns them an F-. Do not be shy about returning bad coins!!!

    three type of set

    clad proof set - july 19 - price $26.95 - 14 pieces

    silver proof set - aug 16 - price $44.95 - 14 pieces

    mint unc set - fall (sept - Nov) - price $22.95 - 28 pieces

year 2008 will most likely the same as above.

year 2009. the quarter will reduced by four pieces. the new design 2009 lincoln wheat cent replaces the old one. the prices of those sets might be different from now. recommended buy.

Buy 3 of each and return one of each (that way you do not have to wait for them to send back a good one). I promise that you will get defective coins in these sets.

I order 3 silver proof sets and two mint sets because of that reason alone.....

and you get your postage reimbursed from the mint!

    postage recovery

i always buy more sets so that the postage will be divided by those sets. and it will come out very little cost for postage on each set.

    three latest sets

i think these three latest 2007 sets. clad proof set, silver proof set and mint uncirculated set will not be popular this year. do you think either of that can perform good?.

I buy 2 of each. They usually stay about the same some pop up. Be ready to return spotted coins though, the mint's quality control on these is really bad.

The thing that kills the prices on these is the fact that they offer them into July or Aug of the next year.

    mint cut off date

yes, the mint should have cut off date to around 6 month.
