This is wierd, all of his ost are gone. Also, his public profile appears to have been deleted. Any trace of him, besides people saying his name, is gone.

Yep, happened within the last 24 hours as I looked at quite a few posts of his yesterday. Just checked an old thread I started that he posted in and it's gone...

To wipe him out like that, something significant must have happened. - Wow - He will be missed and was a real asset to the Mint by helping with a somewhat tarnished image and by helping this group stay informed. I hope he/you did not lose his/your job as a result...

If you read this as a guest ND86 - I hope everything is ok and wish you all the best. Thank you for all of your help and understanding. The Mint needs more employees like you!

    Best Regards,

    Darryl

Request to remove all my posts

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For personnal reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with CT or any members, I request that you delete all of the posts I've made in CT. It has been a pleasure to join the CT group and I've enjoyed every minute of my time here.

I realize my request and the subsequent deletion of my posts may cause many questions from other members. LOL, my response is the same as I've always given - you don't have to know about my reasons for not discussing who I am or why I never source any information. You don't have to know about my reasons for deleting all of my posts. They are mine and private. Please respect that as I respect your right to privacy, free speech, etc.

    Thanks to all!

I'm new to this board, but I like to jump in and get my feet wet, so I don't lurk much...I just start posting away. I recognize some names of other posters with whom I have shared other forums, but ND86 was someone who I had never seen post before. I joined this forum specifically because of his posts and I personally began to look forward to each one tremendously. I hope everything is ok. :)

We have had discussions about lawsuits, the ebay monster, SGS/Aboncom and the potential fires we kindle as we save other YN's from misfortune.

maybe they hired aliens to abduct him, maybe it is a CYA kind of thing, maybe maybe maybe.....

Whatever the reason, remember the knowledge he shared and be as forthright, open and honest to all of our members young old new and yet to be as he was

ND86 is certainly a member that we could've hardly done without. I always enjoyed reading his posts and we all learned new and invaluable information from him. We, for the most, never really cared about his identity, we just appreciated the fact that he was generous enough to share information with us that he really didnt have to. I feel he did it as a big favor to all of us here at CT because we help each other out. I will certainly miss him and the information he's provided us for so long. Take Care ND!!!

Interesting concept but once it's posted, isn't it public domain? How can you claim ownership to postings and they certainly are not private.

Say I wrote a book, published it ..now I change my mond and go back an pull all the copies from everyone who has ever read it? ridiculous.

There is something fishy going on here.

hmmm...strange, could be any number of reasons.

If they weren't copyrighted how could anybody claim ownership? unless all of his post were plagiarized?

Ohwell have a good life ND!

interesting take on that email.....I took as his reasons were private, not his posts. What do I know today? I am an understimulated supervisor with a staff that is actually being well behaved today :loud:

(A Bit off topic . . .bear with me)

Actually, you don't have to apply for copyright through the Library of Congress to copyright your words/thoughs/music, etc. It's considered copyrighted the instant you put it on paper, type it on a computer or put it on a tape/CD.

Just because something is on the internet, it's not in the public domain.

If you want a registered copyright, you have to go through the LoC. A registered copyright is easier to defend in a suit, but not registering it doesn't invalidate the copyright.

When I send in a manuscript to a publisher, he pays for the registered copyright, not me, but it's still copyrighted in my name (unless I'm doing work for hire, which is a whole 'nother subject).

My editor instructs us all to establish any and all online identities as fake. I haven't done the legwork, but I was under the impression that you can be held accountable for libel for anything you write in an internet forum, that it is, in fact, public domain. I know from personal experience that just because you call something your "opinion" on the internet doesn't make it automatically OK. Most of the time, yes...but not always.

Sorry for th OT response. :)

I am sad to see ND gone. I have a clue as to why, I just hope it wasn't from a few members trying to pry to hard as to his identity and sorces.
I didn't care where he came from, I was just thankfull for his knowledge and info.
    It's a sad day.:(
