Just wanted to publicly thank @Sallent for being a stand-up guy and collector by generously gifting me one of his own coins. With added costs and expenses for me nowadays (one being school) it has become more difficult for me in general to purchase coins on a regular basis (still saving for the solidus I posted recently), so this was really appreciated on my part. Thank you again Sallent! On to the coin itself. From Sallent's photos I knew it at least was going to look like a nice quality Constantinian bronze, but once I had it in hand I was all: I wish I had coins this nice to give away!
There really is no need to thank me. I'm just glad to see your excitement over the coin. It makes me happy to see the coin went to a good home where it will be properly cherished and enjoyed. PS: I see you freed it from the 2x2 Lighthouse cardboard holder I had it in. The coin looks nicer this way.
Was it Shakespeare that said to beware lawyers bearing gifts? Maybe it was my dad, LOL. Seriously, cool gesture Sallent and nice coin, VK!
My first quality Constantine was a gift from Lars Rutten on FAC. It just so happens to be very similar to yours: CONSTANTINE I AE3 OBVERSE: CONSTANTINVS P F AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust right REVERSE: SOL INVICTO COMITI, Sol, radiate, standing left, raising right hand, globe in left, chlamys across shoulder Struck at Trier 313-15 AD 3.78 g, 18-19 mm RIC VII Trier 42 ex Lars Rutten
