Egad, when the change you get looks like this, it's time to do away with the cent!!! Is there any other country that has as ugly coins as this.
My Lincoln cent collection ends with the coppers of 1982. It would have been fitting had they just ended the cent in 2009.
I continue to collect the cent, and have some 280 graded mint state and proof examples from 1930 through 2022, and perhaps 30 or so to go to complete the set. I am glad the one cent coin continues to be made.
I know is it a bad thing to clean coins, but has anyone tried this... soak your copper coin in white vinegar for 20 minutes, the results are amazing!
Oooooh, Noooo! Not the vinegar. I would never use that, not even on Metal detected finds. Sorry. It will ruin your coins and they will be a details coin. Can you show us some examples of this so-called vinegar bath?
I quit getting penny rolls from the bank. They are so filthy that you should get a tetanus shot after touching them.
I don't think it's the coin as much it is some of those who handle them. Some people subject coins to the worst elements. Just one example: I saw a guy once dump a full cup of chewing tobacco spit on the side of the carwash and inside was also a dozen or so pennies. It's not the pennies fault they got all cruddy like that. And I'm sure everyone's read my experience with pennies found in a head on the Midway back when she was actively serving in the 7th fleet.
It is disgusting. Even though cents are toxic and literally less than worthless people are getting even richer by having this garbage circulating. The government hates cash anyway.
It took three employees just to take cash for this new computer. One to examine the bills, another to double check him, and a third to make change. I almost expected alarms to go off.
Denny's you say? That explains it. Ours closed months ago. Roaches and one time my son found a hair in his eggs.
