Need help identifying 1698 coin

    I found this in a holder that just had 1698? written on it. Any help appreciated!

    Not much left there. Size would help !
    Looking at the arrangement of the year and legend (sit nomen Domini benedictum) around the crown my first guess would be that this is a French Ecu.

    Yeah it's seen better centuries. It's about 22mm. Thanks!

    I think maybe the people in the World coin forum might have an idea or two on what it is, given that the date is more within their area of expertise.

    Thanks I did a search for 1698 and it came up under ancient, thought maybe more like world. Does look like a French ECU. Appreciate it!

    Or maybe this coin
    a Half ECU is 35mm the OP said 22mm.. this one is closer in size at 23.5
