Seems like we are time traveling back to 2014 again.

Oh and nice coins, just got in a few Gordian coins too. Going to post it later on.

Oh here is one I have already

 

For some time now I have been wanting one of these but kick myself for passing up on one I saw at a Baltimore show that had a perfect reverse legend and BNE at the end. I doubt I'll ever buy one since the one that I missed will keep getting better in my mind and ones still available will fail to measure up to my fancies.

Except Gordian III was 19 when he died, Mr Bean is what, 200 years old? Well, it certainly feels that way to me. His comedic shtick was funny to me when I was a kid...but people grow and mature.

If you are a Mr Bean fan, sorry, but it's how I feel.

 

Hey, I get a chuckle when I watch him, and I'm certainly not young. Perhaps I'm not mature. That's what my wife says.

 

@Sallent: I just think they share certain facial characteristics...not trying to turn this into a Mr.Bean Thread!

I liked Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder, though.

My only Gordian III. A nice chunky sestertius:

 

I don't care if they are cheap, or if some refer to them as roaches, or just how common they are, I really love Gordian III coinage.

I only have two so far, but I could easily see myself with 10-15 different Gordian III in the next year or so. There are just too many interesting reverses available for little money, the quality of the strike is good, the silver is good, and artistic quality is good What's not to love?

Favourite Gordian III

Very shiny Gordian III. I think I may play about with this one and an egg at some time....

I have a few others, also one with Gordian III and Tranquillina. It looks OK in hand but the photos are awful. Will have to try harder.

Love them both Z. Outstanding detail.

 

As common and disrespected as Gordian's Imperials may be, his Provincials include many really interesting and high demand types. When the Gordian volume of RPC comes out, it will be huge. Among the favorites of mine are few below. I know a specialist in these that has many wonderful ones. I have none of the high rollers and am not likely to be changing that when you see what some of them bring.

My favorite Gordian with Tranquillina - Tomis Tyche - the mark of denomination was dug out of the die before this coin was struck. Last month I saw a second on in a sale but it was a different die and not as 'violent'. The seller did not comment on it but I'm probably the only one who cares.

Note that 8 of my 10 were from the common Trace/Moesia region. The ones from other regions are much more popular. Specializing in Gordian Provincials would be enough to keep most collectors busy and broke.

 

The reverses on those are great!
