It's gotta be the last one... had to dip into next months coin budget to grab it... I'll let you guys make your calls... but I decided to trust ICGs accuracy in grading so that she should cross over to NGC no problem... Eyeballs @Insider (yes I'm putting you guys to the test ) even if it dropped a grade I still paid under list and like the coin so I'm happy... and Oops... NOT a details coin... what am i thinking PS will add that I graded it 1 grade under icg but I can see it in the grade it's wearing just as readily
I'm still pretty new to grading and telling the difference between VF and XF is hard for me, but I guess VF-35.
I stopped playing GTG because I was usually wrong. Since you asked, I'll guess it is a dirty XF. If you send any coin to PCGS or NGC - send it in RAW or you may not get a fair "commercially acceptable" opinion. Why should a top TPGS say the other services grade basically the same. If you send in a PCGS or NGC coin to a second tier service like ICG or ANACS, keep it in the original slab! ICG will cross or upgrade coins fairly no matter who's slab it is in. Additionally, you are wasting money trying to det ANY "Detailed" coin from any TPGS "straight graded!" It ain't going to happen but lots of folks try it. Learn to grade for yourselves because TPGS are not perfect.
I will keep that in mind at submission time... As for poking at you and ICG I will say this I truely believe that ICG is the most accurate of the TPGs when it comes to grading. If it weren't for the premium on pcgs/ngc slabs all my coins would go to icg
It has EF sharpness, but I would be be concerned about getting it back with “cleaned” on the label. That color looks to be quite unnatural and the result of the used of an abrasive on the surfaces.
That grade appears fair. I was late to your party, but I would have guessed VF 35. So, a 40 is not a stretch at all. You are correct that it straddles the high VF/ low EF line.
