Thought this would be another interesting thread to start (this was done in the past but the only thread I found was from three years ago). Where are you with your collecting at the moment, numbers-wise? And your centuries/areas of interests?

I went through my collection and did a count (and a recount with my Byzantines because I fudged up with those :shifty:) and came out to 234 total coins (I used to have more, around the 300-400 range, but for the past year I've really trimmed down my collection, but that's pretty much stopped now).

My ancient/medieval collection spans around 19 centuries from the 400s BC to 1482 AD, with the most emphasis on late Roman Imperial, early Byzantine, and early Germanic coinage (my main "things"), with smaller concentrations in Islamic, later Byzantines, and Roman Republican coins.

    600-500 BC = 0 coins
    500-400 BC = 2 coins
    400-300 BC = 1 coin
    300-200 BC = 1 coin
    200-100 BC = 2 coins
    100-0 BC = 6 coins
    0 BC-100 AD = 9 coins
    100-200 AD = 6 coins
    200-300 AD = 12 coins
    300-400 AD = 60 coins
    400-500 AD = 55 coins
    500-600 AD = 44 coins
    600-700 AD = 11 coins
    700-800 AD = 5 coins
    800-900 AD = 4 coins
    900-1000 AD = 2 coins
    1000-1100 AD = 5 coin
    1100-1200 AD = 3 coin
    1200-1300 AD = 2 coins
    1300-1400 AD = 2 coins
    1400-1500 AD = 1 coin

(note: not knowing for sure when my few Augustus coins were minted, I evenly divided them between BC and AD)

If you don't feel comfortable or just simply don't know your numbers, you could give guesstimates.

Here's what mine look like(I did 299-195 that way because some RR issues fall into a period that sort of straddles the line there):
    399-300 B.C. - 1
    299-~195 B.C. - 15
    194-100 B.C. - 18
    99-1 B.C. - 14
    1-99 A.D. - 6
    100-199 A.D. - 1
    200-299 A.D. - 6
    300-399 A.D. - 13
    400-499 A.D. - 0
    500-599 A.D. - 2
    600-699 A.D. - 0
    700-799 A.D. - 0
    800-899 A.D. - 0
    900-999 A.D. - 1
    1000-1099 A.D. - 0
    1100-1199 A.D. - 1
    1200-1299 A.D. - 1

    Total: 79

My collection hasn't grown much in number over the past year but has consistently grew in value as I sold off coins to focus my money and collection towards the Roman Republic along with the occasional LRB.

    Cool idea for a thread!

I am embarrassed to say that I don't have a database to query for my stats. I will do a manual count if I can.

The coins-by-century thing? For me all of my counting took less than an hour, so it might take only a little longer for you since you have just 38 more coins than me.

So far I have 49 ancients. I haven't been up to date with my spreadsheet so I can't diverse them into years yet.

Guess that means I have 50 total. I have more, but they need to be cleaned and attributed...
