It will be major coin market crash aka 1989 or worse IMO. Millions will be affected trying get by consequently big loss impact on coins as demand plummets.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of worse news, but no segment of our economy will be unaffected if our nation defaults on its debt.

Absolutely - it will affect all sectors. As coins don’t pay interest or dividends they most definitely will fall if ten millions of people struggling get by.

I think the gold price will go nuts in some currency. If there is a default, I don’t think that the price of gold will fall. It will do quite the opposite.

If anything, coin prices may go up. The dollar would likely fall and so would stocks. Gold could be one safe haven people go to.

I was thinking the same right as you posted.
Also, plenty of those with the funds to collect the more expensive coins are likely to not be impacted.

One would be dreaming coins will go up. Frankly lean towards idea US Classic is over priced. Certainly there are rich collectors that may remain active but they are a rare breed. Plus they will not find the down elevator a fun ride. Plus if the bids in free fall eventually they may wake up and smell the coffee. Right now people are getting scared. A month ago at show sales off I think people feeling the pinch worried then.

It's likely more to do with the material (plus audience at the show) than the market. The eye appealing coins will almost certainly not be available at discount prices. The generic items, like MS 65 common date Morgans, could come down.

Yes, from my experience, when the market goes down, the quality of the material offered goes along with it. It takes a few years for the better material to become available.

I can't say anything nice about our representation in DC, so, I won't say anything.

So will gold and silver skyrocket if it happens?specifically silver possibly getting to the $30 range, because if so I could really use the extra money for my summer vacation.

A debt default? The wallstreet clown show would probably send the dow a thousand points higher because , after all, we didn't have World War lll, an astriod strike and a mass coronal ejection melt the polar ice caps all on the same day.
