I never get change anywhere. We pay with our credit card or it is charged to our checking account. When my wife and I first got married, we had a hard time tying to figure out what happened to our money, so for all over the counter purchases, we use dear old VISA. I can't remember the last time I had change in my pocket.
Back to collecting, I started collecting the Silver Proof Sets about the same I started collecting. Although the price has gotten still for quite a while, I still like the idea of having proofs of the Cent, Nickel, quarters, half dollars, and especially the quarters. I also collect the Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets, which started in 2012. It was not produced in 2015, so that year, I substituted an American Silver Proof Coin with that set.
I have rarely used cash since beginning of Covid, but while my wife and I were in Galveston a couple weeks ago I used cash for a small purchase. I got back 3 Lincoln cents, a Roosevelt dime and an Edith Kanaka"ole quarter. All were 2023 from the Denver mint.
I got a Kanaka Ole at the beer store the other day. The 25¢ symbol jumped out at me. I really like the design. I've gotten the Bessie Coleman too.
