1. Was he triggered by someone who wanted to cause harm to him based upon his nationality or did he do himself in. If it was the first, then that is sad and the other guy should have been banned instead. 2. The guy did bring a lot to the table. Shame he is not here anymore to continue to share.
I was told that our old pal Siberian Man engaged in some political discussion on here, and being no doubt a patriot and I think a military officer (past or present), took the side of his head of state. I believe that is what got him banned from CT. When I heard about that, I sent him an email and got no reply. I also miss him and his many additions to our knowledge base on this forum. I personally take care to never get into any kind of disagreement or argument on any coin forum, and most certainly no politics. I deal with numismatists from many countries, many of them from Russia, and we adhere strictly to the subject at hand and remain civil and polite. Hopefully I have not transgressed the rules of CT by posting this, and if so, I humbly apologize to the Lords of CT.
India, Mughal Coins, AR One Rupee; Jahangir; Ahmadnagar Mint Jahangir, Nur-ud-din Muhammad (1605-1627) Obv: kalima shahada, zarb on left side bottom Rev: jahangir badshah ghazi Ref: KM 142.1
Good move, I had been thinking of reviving this thread also, as Indian coins are my favorite area of interest. Lately, jitals mainly. Here is a recent one, Delhi Rajas, Madana Pala Deva, BI Jital, c. 1145-1167 AD
Sometimes it seems all moderns in Unc condition are scarce. Of course they aren't and there are many spread all over the globe but when you go to find them you will not. I spent years trying to find the old Indian mint sets that Krause listed for a few dollars and never found a single one. Now they list for hundreds and even thousands of dollars. I searched for many years for the one rupee coins back to 1947 and found only a handful and not every date; they still list for nothing.
This is the most common of all the India Republic coins in Unc in my experience. I never found a quantity of them. They'd turn up one or two at a time. Most of the old Indian Republic coins have been destroyed and don't exist in any condition. Beat up, worn out, and mangled coins aren't too hard to find but a lot of Uncs are. Higher denominations are even tough in beat up condition. Gem Uncs are scarce for almost every single issue.
First one is Delhi Sultans, Ala al Din Muhammad, AD1296-1316. Can you provide weight in grams and size in mm? Can narrow it down more then. Actually, it appears that the top right image is the obverse and the bottom right image is the reverse of a BI 2 gani. The two left hand images seem to be from some bull and horseman jital, and possibly need to be rotated. See zeno.ru #296654.
coin to the left appears to be Hindu Shahis...India 800-1000 AD see the comparison - not the exact coin - but right time and place Coin on the right already identified by @coin_nut is Sultans of Delhi-Khalijis. 'Ala al din Mohammed II 695-715/ 1296-1315. 2 gani Tye 419. Mitchiner World of Islam 2569 (see https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?term=tye+419&category=1-2)
Looks like you nailed it pretty good. I love these ancient and medieval South Asian coins. Just uploaded this one to zeno a few minutes ago, think I have it attributed correctly. Mughal, Akbar, AE Falus, Ujain-Malwa type, AH979
A neat little coin, quite common, Pudukkottai 1 cash, minted from 1889-1934. The earlier ones are not as nicely milled as this example of a later issue. Ruler: Martanda Bhairava. There is some interesting reading online, probably wikipedia.
