Hi all, just picked up this cool looking coin. I love the looks of it. it really caught my eye. Macadonia, Phillip the 2nd 359-336 b.c. Bronze Drachma. Obv. head of Apollo right. Hair bound with tainia. Reverse: naked youth on horseback prancing left. monogram. dia.18mm, weight 4.94 g.
I bought a lot of four of these a few months ago. One had this same green patina. The others were also green, but not as deep:
these are cool, thick little coins. here's mine... looks like i match bings first coin with the little bull skull.
Are we doing green? Not Phillip II but green tone: Constans, 333-337 AD AE3; Siscia mint: 347 AD. Obv.: CONSTAN-S PF AVG; rosette-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right. Rev.: VICTOR-IA AVGG; Victory walking left holding wreath in each hand, Chi-Rho in right field // *ASIS* Hadrian, AD 117 - 138 AE as, 10.8g, 27mm; 6h; Rome mint, AD 128 - 132 Obv.: HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS PP; laureate head right Rev.: COS III, S C in fields; Salus, draped, standing right, feeding out of patera in left hand snake held in right hand
Hey I'm always up for seeing a nice late Roman (and earlier imperial as well). Oh and fun fact: I used to own that very Hadrian coin
