all the books have the bust facing right that year; for sure this is left. I saw someone sell one just like mine a couple of weeks ago on e-bay (it was only for around 6 bucks); he had on the description "B70". Is this some kind of pattern or the like? I've not bothered to take a pic of it, and it is in pretty rough shape, but--- I do like the eclectic! Anyway, if anyone can hazard a guess, that would be great to share it with me. Unless some forger is playing tricks, and reversed the portrait just to mess with people, there would be more, and certainly notes from the mint. Just my thoughts.

But it wasn't to "just mess with people" By change the coin a bit they could (hopfully) avoid a counterfeiting charge indeed there is a whole series of such coins called Evision Half Pennies it was smart since Counterfeiting carried at least "Transportation beyond the Seas" https://oldcurrencyexchange.com/201...irish-evasion-halfpennies-1770s-to-the-1790s/ I wouldn't be suprised if OP coin is an evasion half penny Strangely the Evasions are listed by A(for Atkins ) number not B numbers and the list I linked doesn't list a 70. I found out of these because I got an A 314 in a random lot
Ya hey- Yeah, I tend to agree with you Mountain Man- during that time-frame there were quite a few contemporary counterfeits going on. And thank you for weighing in as well, Joshua; I wasn't sure if it might have been pattern# or something. Appreciate it much fellows. BTW- If either of you want to see a pic, I'll do it. The edges look like they were hammered on or something... actually, I WILL send a pic as you fellows were kind enough to look...
appreciate the info M-man; I did a little reading and found that the colonies were absolutely desperate for change and accepted known counterfeits just to be able to use something--- you got me on the right track, and I thank you for the help, brother...
