2021-P Kennedy Halves - What is going on?

Going through a bank box of Kennedy Halves and seeing a lot of 2021-P coins. At first I thought I got lucky, but now realize the mint must be sending them to circulation. Why would they do that?

Because they are the mint, they do what they want and don't answer questions until after the fact.

Well, maybe it's my location, but no matter what the mint is doing, I NEVER see half dollars in circulation around here. Might be nice for a change if I did.

The mint has been releasing halves into circulation since 2018. They just did a poor job of announcing that halves minted after 2017 would be issued for circulation.

 

and yet the whole time they continued issuing NIFC's in P and D rolls and bags.

They really should circulate again. The largest number and volume of coins I get in change are quarters.

 

Because that is why a coin such as the half dollar is made, to go into circulation.

 

My favorite bank teller called me today and said they just got a large supply of small dollars. They got SBA, Presidents and Sacagawea. They never get halves and dollars. Strange.

 

For the benefit of collectors. Now they appear to be non-NIFC and more legit to the collecting community snobs..........
